On Thursday evening, a WCPD Patrol officer responded to a report of an injured bald eagle on the Hutchinson River Parkway near the NYSDOT Maintenance Yard in New Rochelle.

Upon his arrival he found many 'Good Samaritan' motorists who had stopped to surround the injured bald eagle that had been struck by a car.

In particular, we have to commend the initial 911 caller, who also held on the eagle to keep it out of further harm's way.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. Jim Horton, shown in the photo, from QualityPro Pest & Wildlife Services. Jim responded to the scene to assist and transported the eagle to Animal Nation in South Salem for further care. We can always count on Jim to come out when we call and we thank him for his ongoing support!

We are told the eagle (now named Hutch) is on the mend. Job well done by all!
